Epiphany

Drove by this and imagined a bookstore. Aisle upon aisle. Shelf after shelf. New and used. Customers driving up to the window around back and receiving their purchases. A line of vehicles longer than the line wrapping around the McDonald’s across the street. A line of vehicles with no end in sight. Patrons having to park a mile or more away. Customers packing the place for book releases that would make the Kay Bee Toys promotional parades of the early- to mid-80s look like amateur hour. Customers reading aloud impromptu from books they will buy–without bothering anyone. Customers with bags filled with books. Customers. The beginning of a new world.
