All night a bitter wind raged, as if Earth itself knew the outcome.
When we awoke, we had a winner and an understanding that this is the true nature of the country, if not the world, we live in.
They should’ve seen this coming.
We saw this coming.
“It’s the economy, stupid.”
But it’s also the rise of something awful, something history demands. History demands we must sacrifice and comply.
Four years ago I tweeted, which now I can no longer do, a video of a William Ackerman song, “The Wall and the Wind,” from Ackerman’s 1979 New Age album of guitar solos Childhood and Memory. I did this to honor my recently deceased father, who did not live to see Biden defeat Trump.
My father is fortunate he did not live to see this day.
