Fall 2025
On September 20th, I was at the Barnes & Noble in Modesto on McHenry Ave for an author signing of my new novel, The Thief of THAT. Thanks to everyone who purchased a copy! Archived event details here.

I took part in Stanislaus County’s Local Author Fair on September 6th. Thanks to those who purchased pre-release copies of my latest novel, The Thief of THAT!
Summer 2025

I wasn’t in Philadelphia for the American Library Association’s annual conference (June 26 – 30), but two of my books, The Fallible: Stories and The Book of Stan, were on display at the IngramSpark Indie Author Exhibit.

Spring 2025
I was at AWP in LA at the end of March. Met up with friend and fellow author Stuart Ross (Jenny in Corona, The Hotel Egypt). Attended several solid sessions, skipped the suspect.

Fall 2024
I took part in the Independent Local Authors’ Day at Bookish Modesto on Saturday, November 2nd. Patrons could find me in an alcove toward the front of the store next to the Horror section. Spoke, sold, signed. By the end of the two hours, only one copy of one book remained.

Attended Stanislaus County Library’s Local Author Fair on October 5th. Sold copies of The Book of Stan, The Fallible: Stories, and He Who Shall Remain Shameless. Met Modesto-based author and illustrator Micah Mate and picked up a copy of his hybrid work Bring Out Your Dead.

Summer 2024

Spring 2024
In my neck of the woods, a bookstore is a big deal. Any kind of bookstore, but especially an indie. We did have an independent bookstore—Yesterday’s Books, which was established in 1980 and shuttered its doors at the end of 2022. Like many of its brethren, it did not survive. Still, a 42-year run is nothing to scoff at.

Now we have a new bookstore: Bookish Modesto, co-owned by author Paula Treick DeBoard. Perhaps to coincide with spring, Easter, rebirth, Bookish Modesto’s grand opening is Thursday, April 4th. I hope they have their own bookmarks!

And, finally, a hedge of protection around Bookish Modesto for the next 42+ years.
